Mistake

Harry Potter: Facing this stuff in real life is not like school. In school, if you make a mistake you can just try again tomorrow, but out there, when you’re a second away from being murdered or watching a friend die right before your eyes… you don’t know what that’s like.

This is one powerful quote from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix when Dumbledore’s Army was created. I remember how this sentence fell heavy on my shoulders. We make mistakes everyday, at our home, in school, in office, at grocery store…everywhere. Usually we make mistakes without knowing..until someone makes us realize, or we realize it ourselves.

But when it’s war, when the threat is out there, one needs to be cautious…one cannot afford mistakes anymore.

A Muslim woman cannot wear a headscarf/burkini

A black cannot teach an autistic kid in public

A Muslim cannot speak Arabic on a plane

A black cannot drive without fear

When you are out there and death eaters and lurking by every street, you cannot afford any mistakes.

      1. Old Spanish civil war and Cuban revolutionary cheer, We will conquer and long live the revolution. I know what you mean about the other things but they’re a blip in the grand scheme of things, nasty, but just a blip
